Expert Reply:
The inside dimension between the upright tabs that would sit against the outer edge of the frame members is 41 inches, while the center to center hole spacing on the tabs that mount to the underside of the frame member is 39 inches. I've shown these dimensions on the photo I've put together for you.
The hitch fits the following vehicles:
• 1991 - 2000 Ford Explorer
• 2001 - 2003 Ford Explorer 2-Door
• 2001 - 2001 Ford Explorer 4-Door
• 1997 - 2001 Mercury Mountaineer
• 1991 - 1994 Mazda Navajo
