As far as wiring, you need specific wiring depending on what model of Prius you have. If you have front-wheel drive, you need the Curt T-Connector # C56353. If you have the all-wheel drive model, you need the Curt T-Connector # C69KR. Both of these harnesses will provide your light utility trailer with brake lights, turn signals, and running light functions.

If you need a ball mount/ball to complete your setup, I recommend the Curt Towing Starter Kit # C45147. This kit also comes with a hitch pin and arrives pre-torqued to match factory specifications.
