Question:

I need to get my 2021 Ford EcoSport set up to tow a little trailer across country. And I do mean little. Shouldn't even be 1,000 pounds fully loaded. I am relocating for work and need to get my stuff and myself to California. What all do you recommend?

To get your 2021 Ford EcoSport set up to tow a small trailer, I recommend starting with the Curt # C12188. This is a very quick and easy install and shouldn't take more than about 30 minutes to complete. This is an American made hitch that will give you a Class II capacity ( 3,500 pounds towing and 350 pounds of tongue weight), but you will need to check your owner's manual for your vehicle capacities. I do need to mention that the lower fascia panel on 2.0L models will need to be removed for installation and may be left off or trimmed to be reattached. So just a heads up on that.

For the wiring, I recommend going with the Vehicle Wiring Harness # C59236. There currently isn't a plug and play option for your EcoSport, but I have found Tekonsha harnesses to be the longest lived out of all the brands we carry, so this will be the say to go.

The last things you will need are a ball mount, ball, and a pin and clip to keep them in place. This will depend on a few things, but if it is something like a U-Haul trailer you will be using, these will have a 2" coupler and typically a 17" or 18" coupler height. As the Curt # C12188 will sit at 12" when measured from the ground to the inside top of the receiver, something like the 5" Rise Curt Ball Mount # C45014 and Curt 2" Ball # C40018 would be perfect. The # F-4 pin and clip will be all you need to keep this in the hitch.
