I have read where if you install this kit, you have to turn off safety systems for it to work the brakes? 2021 Ranger Lariat RED44FR install Thanks

You will not have to turn off any safety systems on your 2021 Ford Ranger Lariat to be able to use the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller # RED44FR. I verified with your owners manual that there are no special steps required for towing with an electric brake controller.

It is likely that what you read was in reference to any forward collision system your Ranger has not activating the trailer brakes when the computer activates the brakes. This is due to the computer activating the vehicle brakes rather than the pedal activation and is common on most all vehicles.

I have linked an installation video below for an installation that we did on a 2019 Ford Ranger with the factory 7-way to help you with the installation process. If you would like to install the controller in the same location you will need the Mounting Panel # 331-TPSI-003.

If you don't have a factory 7-way you will also need the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 7-Way Trailer Connector # C56431 to complete the installation of the brake controller.
