Troubleshooting a 2006 Chevy Silverado 12 Volt Trailer Connector Circuit

Question:
I have a 2006 Chevy Silverado 1500 with the factory 7 pin connector. I recently installed a trailer brake control. I wanted to make sure every thing worked, I connected it to a trailer and noticed that all the lights worked, but it wasnt able to get power from the vehicle. I got my volt meter out and checked things out, my trailer brake worked fine, but I dont have any power coming from the black wire, which is for the trailer power/ charge batteries. I was wondering if there is a fuse that isnt working, or a wire not hooked up since I heard gm had an issue of equipping with tow package, and leaving some wires unhooked. I looked under the fuse box under the hood and didnt seen and extra taped up wires. If so where do I find these mysterious wires. Thanks.

It sounds like the 12 volt circuit has not been completed under the hood of your 2006 Chevy Silverado. Check out the FAQ article I attached that shows where this connection is made so that you can check there. You may find that the connection is made but the fuse is blown, so check and replace that as necessary.
