Question:

I am wiring a 4 pin round connector on a Jeep that is being towed behind a motorhome. Curious about the proper wiring for this connector, I found 2 pages on your website that each have different wiring configurations. Can you clarify which is correct? I know it really doesnt matter as long as the correct wire gets to where it is going but I want to do it right. For the wiring diagrams either is correct as long as it matches up, that being said the one from the FAQs page would be the more typical setup. It's always recommended to check the functions of the wires beforehand using a circuit tester # PTW2992 to ensure you're properly wiring your components.

Since you're going to be flat towing your Jeep you'll actually want to use a 6-pole instead of a 4 pole since there isn't an adapter to go from a 4-pole round to 7-pole socket. You can use the Roadmaster 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Kit
Item # RM-146-7 and the wiring you have from the Blue Ox Tail Light Wiring Kit with Block Diode # BX8811 you were looking at to run to it from the lights. The # RM-146-7 comes with 6 pole to 7 pole adapter cable that has a coiled design to help prevent it from dragging on the ground and being damaged. It also comes with a bracket for the vehicle side to make mounting the 6 pole socket easier.
