Can I Use 13 Inch Wheels on my Boat Trailer?

Question:

Is it okay to go from a 14 in. wheel to a 13 in. wheel on a boat trailer. Its a tandem axel trailer and the boat weighs around 4500 lbs.

Yes, the Steel Directional Trailer Wheel - 13" x 4-1/2" Rim - 5 on 4-1/2 - Chrome Finish Item # AM48VR you were looking at would be capable of supporting your 4500 lbs trailer. Each wheel has a 1,660 lbs capacity which would put you well over 4,500 lbs on a tandem axle trailer.

I recommend the Kenda Karrier ST175/80R13 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range D item # AM10210. These tires are constructed of double steel belts and full nylon plies. They fit 13" wheels and have a maximum load capacity of 1,650 lbs at 70 psi. This tire has a 1-year worry-free guarantee. If within the first 12 months the tire is damaged in any way, it will be replaced at no charge.
