1. Count the lug holes
Look at the wheel hub or the back of the wheel and count how many lug holes there are(also called bolt holes).
Common configurations include: 4-lug, 5-lug, 6-lug and 8 lug
2a. For even lug counts (4-lug, 6-lug, 8-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole directly across to the center of the hole opposite it.
Common configurations: 4 on 4", 6 on 5.5", 8 on 6.5"
2b. For odd lug counts (5-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole to the outer edge of the hole directly across (not center-to-center since there's no directly opposite hole).
Common configurations: 5 on 4.5" (most popular), 5 on 5", 5 on 4.75", 5 on 5.5"

Today we are going to take a look at this Americana fifteen inch by five inch chrome directional steel trailer wheel with the five on four and a half inch bolt pattern. Now this is a nice sturdy steel wheel. Has the directional design, and when we say directional design, if you notice the slots look like they're going in a direction, this is a nice stylish chrome finish. Provides superior protection from rust and corrosion.
This wheel does meet the DOT department of transportation specifications. A few dimensions on this we're going to measure. The diameter of the wheel, which will be 15 inches, will always be measured inside the inside. You don't want to measure outside to outside. It's inside to inside.
If we take our tape measure and if we go all the way across, you can see right at 15 inch diameter. The width will be the same way, inside to inside or bead seat to bead seat, five inches wide.Now the bolt pattern on this wheel is a five on four and a half inch bolt pattern. If you want to measure that bolt pattern, on a wheel that's an odd number of lugs, in this case five, all you do is pick one of the holes. Let's say this one, and then you'll measure across to either one of these holes. But the trick is when you measure it, it's from the center of the starting hole to the furthest edge of whichever hole you measure to.
So center of the starting hole to the furthest edge on this wheel will measure four and a half inches. So it's a five lug four and a half inch bolt pattern. This wheel does use a wheel lug size of a half inch by 20. Weight capacity on this wheel is 1,870 pounds. And the pilot hole diameter, which is this large hole here in the center of the wheel, goes over the hub on your trailer, diameter of that opening is 3.19 inches.But that should do it for the review on the Americana fifteen inch by five inch chrome directional steel trailer wheel with the five on four and a half inch bolt pattern..

Excellent
I had to return one wheel; it had a manufacturing flaw. This was not etrailer’s fault. etrailer immediately sent me out a replacement before they received the “flawed” wheel. I would rate my past and recent experience with etrailer high
