1. Count the lug holes
Look at the wheel hub or the back of the wheel and count how many lug holes there are(also called bolt holes).
Common configurations include: 4-lug, 5-lug, 6-lug and 8 lug
2a. For even lug counts (4-lug, 6-lug, 8-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole directly across to the center of the hole opposite it.
Common configurations: 4 on 4", 6 on 5.5", 8 on 6.5"
2b. For odd lug counts (5-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole to the outer edge of the hole directly across (not center-to-center since there's no directly opposite hole).
Common configurations: 5 on 4.5" (most popular), 5 on 5", 5 on 4.75", 5 on 5.5"

Hello everybody, this is Jeff@ at etrailer.com. Today we take a look at this 13 inch by four and a half inch chrome, steel directional trailer wheel with the five one four and a half inch bolt pattern. Now this is a nice steel wheel with a directional design and when we say directional design, basically means if you look at the design of these cutouts, it looks like they're going in a direction. This is a nice stylish chrome finish. Offers corrosion resistance and it does meet the DOT Department of Transportation specifications. A few dimensions on this we're going to measure is the diameter and the width.
Now the diameter on the wheel when you measure it, will always be measured inside the inside. So if we take our tape measure and if we go inside to inside, you'll be able to see right at 13 inches for the diameter. And the width will be the same way, it's inside to inside or bead seat to bead seat. It's gonna be four and a half inches wide. Now the bolt pattern on this is a five one four and a half inch bolt pattern.
And if you want to measure that on a wheel like this that's an odd number of lugs. What you want to do is pick any one of the holes, let's say this one, and then you'll measure from the center of that starting hole to the furthest edge of either one of the holes right across from it. So you take any hole start there and then measure to either one of these holes. But when you measure it's from the center of the starting hole to the furthest edge. So on this one, it'll measure four and a half inches.
So that's a five one four and a half inch bolt pattern. Does use a wheel lug size of a half inch by 20. The pilot hole diameter which is the large hole here in the center of the wheel goes over the hub on your trailer. Diameter of that opening is three point one nine inches. And the weight capacity on this wheel is 1,660 pounds.

The chrome finish is absolutely beautiful! The wheels are quality and the chrome finish appears thick and should last many years. Extreme shine! No scratches , bubbles, peeling , burrs etc. High quality. I purchased these to go on my Polar Kraft boat trailer. I currently have the plain white rims as I have had trouble finding the 13" chrome on steel here in Ontario. All the places sell the white or the galvanized. I found these here at E-Trailer and ordered them online. I am very happy with the entire experience. Hi, Virginia! I just got my order in today and am VERY happy with the match to my existing wheel. I’m restoring an old trailer that has been a real challenge.It’s getting an upgrade on top of that.
