Are the Taskmaster 5.30R12 Tires Directional and Can They Be Run at 45 psi

Question:
I just had my local mechanic put these tires on my rims and he said to only put in 45psi and said my rim can’t handle 80psi but they are in perfect shape no rust no damage galvanized. What is the recommended psi to run them at? It’s for a boat trailer, single axle, and the boat and trailer weighs about 1,000-1200 lbs. Also are these tires directional? I didn’t see any arrow on them but I figured I’d make sure.

The Taskmaster 5.30R12 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range C # TT53012C are not directional, so they can be mounted in any direction. However, they are designed to be run at 80 psi and in order to prevent uneven wear or damage to the tires should always be run at the recommended pressure. I'll also say that boat trailer wheels are typically not rated for specific air pressures since they're generally well rated for any tire they encounter. The more likely issue here is the valve stems that are installed on the wheels are limiting the air pressure they can hold, but you'll want to check to make sure there isn't anything specifically on the wheels that says they are limited to 45psi.
As long as there isn't anything on the wheels that specifically says they're limited to 45 psi, you might want to consider swapping the valve stems to something higher rated. You could use the # AM20904 which is rated for up to 80 psi or the # AM20907 for up to 100 psi. There is also the # AM20906, which is rated for anything over 100 psi.
If your wheels are limited in the psi they can handle then you'd want to upgrade the wheels to something that can handle the 80 psi. If you can let me know what the bolt pattern is, I'm happy to recommend a different wheel for you to use with the Taskmaster tires.
