Question:

1 - Is there hardware to add to the MicroSport™ LowBed™ Trailer to convert it into a Roof Top Tent carrier specifically for the Roofnest Sparrow XL Total weight of tent box and 2 adults approximately 500 pounds to be static supported. 2 - is there a storage box available made to fit in the rectangular area between the wheels MPG460XT 1 - Can the retractable tongue feature be used to shorted the tongue to a desired length while the trailer is being towed? 2 - Can the trailer frame parts be painted? If so, what type of paint is recommended? thanks!

Though you will need to contact Roofnest about the hardware as it is not a part we currently carry, there shouldn't be an issue. From looking at the instructions, it will fit standard crossbars that are 40 inches wide with a minimum crossbar spread of 30 inches.

The Malone EcoLight Sport Trailer # MAL53FR will have crossbars that are 58 inches wide and has a spread of 38-1/2 inches. They will also be 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" bars and will not be an issue at all. The only problem will be the weight capacity. This is rated to carry up to 400 pounds at the maximum and may not be the best option.

The Malone MicroSportXT Trailer # MPG460XT will have a higher capacity and will cover your needs, but the crossbar spread will be 44 inches at the minimum. I couldn't find if this will work with the Roofnest Sparrow XL, so it will be another question for them. But with the wiring being inside the tongue tube, it will not be able to be towed without it being fully extended. As to the painting, both of these are made out of galvanized steel so anything will work. I do recommend using something rust resistant though.

Unfortunately, there is not currently a storage box offered for the frames of these trailers at the moment. However, I have seen where wire mesh was attached between the crossbars and along the frame to create a storage area and included a picture for you to check out of this set up..
