Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at the Malone crossbar conversion kit for your standard utility trailer. Now this kit here will allow you to convert a nice standard utility trailer into a canoe, kayak, bike, or cargo box hauler. This kit allows you to attach these crossbars to your trailer with the included U-bolts and it gives you these 78-inch-long crossbars that'll give you plenty of space for attachment of your accessories. Does include everything shown here on the table. Again, it gives you two 78-inch-long by 1 1/4 inch-square steel-coated load bars with these galvanized cross support tubes.
Now these cross support tubes are built of 11 gauge galvanized steel. Gives you the four U-bolts with the hardware to attach these support tubes to the trailer. It gives you these four black powder-coated D rings. If you notice the holes on each end, right here, you can attach the D rings under to give you a place to tie down your accessories. It does come with these plastic end plugs, and these are designed to install in the ends of the tubes here, right here, here, here, here and the same on the front one.
Those will help seal those tubes to keep the elements or water from getting in there. All the mounting hardware and instructions are included. Now all the brackets and the hardware are galvanized to resist corrosion, provide years of service, and this does have a weight capacity of 400 pounds when the weight is evenly distributed. But that should do it for the review on this Malone crossbar conversion kit for your standard utility trailer..
Nice conversion kit and easy to install. Installation instructions were easy to follow and I had it installed on my boat trailer pretty quickly. I can now haul 6 kayaks easily.
This worked out perfectly, I used these as a mod on my 5x8 utility trailer. Just had to cut a few spots on the trailer to make it work but it turned out fantastic

Really solid, strong. Made great conversion of my trailer to carry kayaks. Suggestion: mark or slightly etch lines to locate exact middle of U-shaped base steel piece and cross bar!. Would GREATLY speed up install, and assure BALANCE.
Versatile and good quality. I used on a 4x8 foldable trailer along with an enclosed trailer roof rack to make a modular, removable system to tow 3 kayaks and 2 paddleboards. Work perfect.
The product arrived in poor condition and did not have all the bolts. instead of sending it bacb I went and bought the hardware. This was the second product I purchased from trailer that did not come with all the hardware.
I was given an old trailer my grandfather built many years ago which he used to haul canoes to the BWCA. I wanted to convert it to be able to haul our 4 kayaks. This conversion kit worked perfectly.

The 2nd shipment sent Kayak rack looks great and installed correctly. My 1st package was received from UPS with a torn box and all the hardware missing.

Were using our kayak rack installed on a small utility trailer regularly. 3 10ft kayaks, love it.
Excellent product, used an atv trailer to safely transport 4 kayaks. Its low to the ground so no fighting to lift the kayaks. Highly recommend this product.
Fast shipping, quality materials and hardware. The only suggestion that I would give is some type of anti slip product that put on top of the rails
I purchased this to add to a Harbor Freight trailer. This is very sturdy and works perfectly for what it is. It's on the expensive side as I was able to purchase an entire trailer for not much more.
I used these on an inexpensive Harbor freight trailer to transport my kayaks. They worked great. I was happy with the e trailer website and have used it over and over for different things over the years . They have a huge selection of parts and give expert advice. Easy peasy purchasing and if necessary, returns. A real asset for guys that like to get their hands dirty building their own stuff.
Received packaged with end caps of load bars missing. Unable to install front support bar on the V of the trailer frame (brackets too short) as per instructions. Called Malone - product only for general use & I have to get additional bracket, etc.. The end caps promised to be mailed.
Conclusion - expect to do some modification/additional hardware to install.
They were exactly what I needed. Great customer service and fast shipping. Holds two kayaks on my refurbished jet ski trailer.
This is an easy, quick and sound way to build a kayak trailer. I have purchased and installed one of threse kits several years ago and it turned out great. This is my second order.
I bought this to convert a jet ski trailer. It does what it’s meant to do, well built and is very solid. It’s a bit time consuming to assemble and remove if you want to use your trailer for something else. Best suited for a permanent installation.
Product installed and it works very well. Product is of very adequate strength and install was very easy. This kit makes a great conversion kit to bring a small utility trailer to the world of a kayak trailer. Also, working with eTrailer is yet again, a pleasure. Good follow up and timely delivery. Need more information on exact size of materials and installation instructions. It would not fit my trailer cross bar. Recommend creating slightly larger U bolts or an option to order Ubolts in different sizes.

Update: its been a year and the Malone Crossbar Conversion kit is still as great as when I first put it together. I really appreciate how light weight it is, even with 6 kayaks, its almost like Im not towing a trailer. It has made our kayaking adventures much easier. Id buy it all over again.
