Question:

In the parts group recommended for my 2007 Mini Cooper is the crossbar included with either the tow bar or the baseplate kit? Is the wiring to connect the RV to the towed vehicle included? Thanks

At present there is only one option available for the 2007 Mini Cooper Hardtop S Model, the Roadmaster EZ Base Plate Kit, # 521877-1; this is confirmed to fit your vehicle. For a tow bar, I suggest the Roadmaster Falcon 2 Tow Bar, # RM-520. This hitch-mounted tow bar has stainless steel, telescoping arms that automatically lock into place. Its large hookup radius allows you to connect without perfectly lining up your vehicle. Easily folds up to store on your RV.

You will need safety cables, I recommend the Roadmaster 80" Coiled Safety Cables, # RM-653.

For lighting I suggest the bulb and socket kit # RM-155. Installation video is linked below. This kit lets you use your towed vehicle's brake, running and signal lights without tapping into its wiring. It works via independent plugs and sockets mounted inside the tail lights.

For supplemental braking, required by law, I suggest the system preferred by our installers, the SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO proportional system, # SM99251. It will apply the vehicle brakes in proportion to how much the tow vehicle is braking. This is the safest way to stop and it reduces wear and tear on both vehicles.

Be sure to consult your vehicle owners manual for specific information on flat towing the vehicle. I have also included some helpful links to our series of help articles on flat towing for you.

Yes, we recommended the Roadmaster EZ Base Plate Kit with Removable Arms, # 521877-1 that mates perfectly to the Roadmaster Falcon 2 Tow Bar, # RM-520, that comes with the crossbar. And yes, the Roadmaster Tail Light Wiring Kit with Bulbs, # RM-155 has a connection to go to your RV. There is a second option I will point out, if you prefer to not add wiring to the 2007 Mini Cooper, that is the Custer Wireless LED Tow Bar Light, # LIW-LDTL-7B with a researchable battery. This weatherproof LED tow bar light provides the needed indicator lights of stop, taillight/running lights, turn functions etc. for your Mini Cooper. It is a wireless design that eliminates cords and uses a magnetic base that provides secure grip.
