Question:
I have a 1850 Lund Impact that is difficult to center on the trailer. The front of the boat is V shaped but the back of the boat is mostly flat. This is a bunk trailer. I was interested in installing the self centering roller CE29505 to help center the boat while loading but I dont understand how tall the roller should be under the boat? Does it need to be in contact with the keel when fully seated on the bunks? Or can it be installed lower to simply center the boat when loading? Also, the Shorelander trailer has two cross members with that have a dipinch in them by the centerline so as not to hit the trailer I suppose and a flat piece that is the axle. So I only have two cross members to attach CE29505. I was thinking of using two rollers just to be safe. Both of the trailer V cross members are 6 inches from the keel at the lowest point of the V. The axle is 7 1/2 inches from the keel. I was thinking it was NOT a good idea to attach the rollers to the trailer axle? Do I attach the roller so it is just touching the keel when fully loaded on the bunks? What is the adjustable height with the bracket with the roller installed? What parts do you recommend for this application? Thanks

The CE Smith Keel Roller for Boat Trailers - Self Centering # CE29505 is a replacement roller for a keel roller assembly. This self-centering roller fits a 12" wide bracket with a 5/8" shaft. In order to use this on your boat trailer you would need to install a keel roller.
You are correct in thinking it is not a good idea to attach anything to the trailer axle. Based on the crossmembers and what is already attached to them, I would also not recommend installing a keel roller. Your best option would be to use the CE Smith Roller-Style Guide-Ons for Boat Trailers - 15" Tall - 1 Pair # CE27610.
These roller-style guide-ons will keep your boat centered during the loading process. They are corrosion-resistant with 9" rubber rollers. They fit on trailer frames up to 3" wide x 4-1/4" tall. I have attached a review video for your reference.
