Opening Handle On Yakima SkyBox 16 With The Key Cylinder Removed and The Handle Wont Open

Question:

I tried the WD40 on the locks, removed the locks, and nothing. I need your help, how do I move the handle? It won’t budge, nor will the lock turn. Is there a way to drill it out to spin the handle, any recommendations?

With the lock cylinder removed you will be able to see the hole that the lock protrudes into. This piece should move inside the handle to allow that locking mechanism to either lock the handle or release the handle.

If it will not move you may try some WD40 on the mechanism to see if it will break free and allow you to open the handle.

If the mechanism spins freely with no resistance it is likely that it is damaged and not engaging the lock properly. If this is the case you will have to have the Handle # Y8880348 replaced. To remove the handle you need to drill out the locking mechanism to get it free from the handle to be able to open your Yakima SkyBox 16 Roof Cargo Box.
