Should a Transmission Cooler Be installed On a Kia Sorento For Towing

Question:

My vehicle is rated to tow 5000 lbs. My trailer fully loaded is 3,700 pounds. Should I add a supplemental trans cooler, and if so, does Kia sell them to add on?

It's not required to install a supplemental transmission cooler for towing on most vehicles but it's certainly not a bad idea either as it will help prolong and extend the life of the transmission. There's not really a certain weight to consider one but the larger the trailer is in relation to the vehicle, the more benefits you'll see from one. If you tow through mountains I recommend one at pretty much any weight

I recommend the Derale Series 9000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit part # D13613 for a Kia Sorento. This cooler measures 11" Wide x 8-7/8" tall x 1-1/4" deep and it comes with everything needed for installation.
