Question:
My 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD truck has a 2.5” hitch receiver. My 2012 Toyota Prius has a 1.25” receiver. The Thule T2 Pro XTR bike rack comes in a 1.25” or a 2”. I want to use the same rack on both vehicles. What is the best way to accomplish this with minimum rattle?

Expert Reply:
The Thule T2 Pro XTR Bike Rack # TH23JV will work directly with your 2012 Toyota Prius. This is the one you will need to use since your Prius has a class 1 receiver.
For using the same rack with your Silverado 2500HD that has the 2-1/2" receiver you will need 2 adapters. I recommend the B&W Hitch Receiver Reducer Sleeve # BWRHXA2182 that will slide into the receiver and make the receiver tube 2". You will then use the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver Adapter # C45770 to bring it down to the 1-1/4" receiver that the stinger needs to mount the bike rack.
The Roadmaster Quiet Hitch # RM-062 will remove the play in the adapters so that when you tighten down on the anti rattle device built into the Thule rack you will have no excess play or rattle. And to secure all the adapters to your Silverado the etrailer Hitch Receiver Lock # e98881 will fit the width of your receiver.
