Replacing Side Marker Brackets And Bulbs On 2010 Pace Journey Trailer

Dear Etrailer, I was going to upgrade my marker lights with an Optronics A67CB bracket and light. However, I am uncertain if there is room on the back of the bracket to put bend the wires once I make a connection. The hole were the wire comes out at the top of the trailer barely provides room for the wire. I have enclosed a picture below. I have probably 2 options. Connect the wires using a butt connector and fold it behind the bracket or drill a larger hole right next to the existing one and snip the current hole where any material may be left to create a hole where I can push the wire back in. Just wanting your opinion on what might be the best direction to take. Unfortunately, I have interior panels on the inside of the trailer and I DO NOT want to have to try to remove that. It would create a major issue and I probably would never get it put back properly. I appreciate your input. I just did not want to have to drill a hole unless I had to. I am afraid of hitting a wire that is behind the structure. The back has 5 across the top and I am unsure how those wires run. My assumption is they are ran in loom across the top and then down to where the hole has been drilled. 2 more question. On the license place light, there are 2 wires white and black. Is black the hot wire? Also, what mounting hardware do you sell for the above mentioned bracket. You had stated that it is sold separately. There are currently I believe #10 self tapping sheet metal screws that are 1 inch long. Thanks for your help.

The Chrome Bracket and Single Wire Plug # A67CB has just enough room to route the wire that it comes with. Based on the photo you attached, it looks like the hole that is already drilled is in the exact spot for the wire on the new bracket to fit into (see attached photo). You may need to cut some of the wire off or push the wire back through the hole after making your connection so that the bracket does not have to fit over a lot of crinkled wires, which obviously wouldn't allow for proper installation of the bracket. You could likely reuse your old screws when installing the new bracket, just make sure they are steel for best grounding connection. You can use something like Self-Tapping, Stainless Steel Screw - # 6 x 1/2" - Phillips Pan Head - Qty 1 # 1172904.
You can then add the light fixture/bulb such as amber LED # MCL63AB or red LED # MCL63CRB.
For your license plate light, typically the white wire is ground and the black wire is power (light circuit).
