Does A 3000lb Axle Need Leaf Springs With 3000lb Rating or 1500lb Rating?

Question:
Im purchasing new leaf springs for my 3000lbs single axel trailer, dry weight. Does that mean each leaf spring is 1500lb trailer axle weight to total 3000lbs for the 2 of them? or does each leaf spring have a 3000Lb capacity? Thanks

Expert Reply:
Leaf springs for a 3000lb axle will have a 1500lb rating each, and the combined rating of 3000lbs.
With that said we do not offer any leaf springs with this rating, so the closest option is the 4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 3,500-lb Trailer Axles - 27" Long # SP-210275. These springs have a 1750lb rating each so they will be slightly heavier duty than your axle, but are still close enough that they will still work.
These springs measure 27" from center of spring eye to center of spring eye, so you will need to make sure that matches the length of your current springs with no weight on them.
I included a video of the # SP-210275 for you to take a look at.
