Why Is Kenda 205/65-10 Wheel And Tire Combination AM3H480 Not Recommended For Boat Trailers?

Published 07/22/2021

Question:

Hi, this listing indicated that this is not a suitable option for a boat trailer. The trailer I would be using this on currently has this size wheels/tires tandem axle. The current tires are load range D and Id like to up to load range E. Why would these not be a suitable replacement?

The reason the Kenda 205/65-10 Bias Trailer Tire with 10" White Wheel - 5 on 4-1/2 - Load Range E # AM3H480 you were looking at calls out not being ideal for a boat trailer is due to the wheel, not the tire.

The included wheel is powder coated steel which can chip and rust when being submerged in water, and is not ideal for boat trailers as they are constantly in water.

For a boat trailer the Kenda 205/65-10 Bias Trailer Tire with 10" Galvanized Wheel - 5 on 4-1/2 - Load Range E # AM3H490 which is the exact same tire with the same Load Range E rating you were wanting, but uses a galvanized steel wheel which is rust resistant is a much better idea as it will hold up perfectly to being submerged for years to come.

I included a video of the # AM3H490 for you to take a look at.
