Updated 07/19/2021 | Published 07/17/2021 >
Question:
Why do you need to disconnect battery when using this wiring kit? Or is you need to disconnect just while installing it?

Helpful Expert Reply:
The 2020 Buick Encore GX needs to have the battery disconnected while flat towing the vehicle per manufacturer instructions. This is to ensure the safety of your vehicle's components. Typically this is to prevent the steering wheel from locking and causing your tires to drag anytime you make a turn.
To make this as simple as flipping a switch you can install the Roadmaster Automatic Battery Disconnect with Switch for Towed Vehicle w/ Supplemental Braking System # RM-766. This will allow you just flip a switch and have the connect to you battery be disabled instead of having to physically remove the negative cable on your battery to tow and then reattach it when you're done towing.
