How to Determine If SumoSprings Can Be Used on a Lifted Truck
Updated 05/13/2021 | Published 05/11/2021 >
Question:
Good Afternoon, I have a 2000 Chevy Silverado with 4-6in of lift on it. We are buying a Jayco 28bhe from a friend. I was looking at Sumosprings as I am planning on upgrading the truck after this summer so I want something as budget friendly as possible. I have heard the airbags will usually work fine with the lift kit. Just wondering if the Sumospring set up will also work or if the lift will leave too much space before they make contact? Thanks

In order to determine if you can use the SumoSprings # SSR-209-40 or not you will need to measure where your factory bump stomp sits and measure the distance between there and the axle. This particular # SSR-209-40 comes with a 1/2" spacer and is approximately 6" long, and you'll want around 1" between the spring and the axle when the vehicle is unloaded.
If you can measure that and let me know what type of space you've got between those two points, I can let you know if you can use spacers to make up the difference or if you'd need to go to an air bag system or other type of suspension enhancement.
