Question:
I have a 2016 double cab Silverado and am looking at the options with Sumo Springs helper springs. My towing is always with a weight distributing hitch and no issues there. Looking to buy a 1,200 pound truck camper though and assume itll need some support. The reviews for the 1,500 lb version of the Sumo Springs often mention a harsh ride and I want to avoid that as most of the time the truck is empty or lightly loaded. Will the 1,000 lb version generally handle the truck camper?

Hey Jim, good to hear from you again!
I'm surprised to see the feedback on the 1.5K SumoSprings # SS95MR simply because people normally say that these have zero effect with the truck unloaded, but since that seems to be the general consensus I would agree that your best bet is to use the 1K SumoSprings # SSR-209-40 instead.
Back when we first brought on the SumoSprings brand I got to talk with their owner and he said that their springs are constructed well enough that you can actually trim them if you want a little less support, and it wouldn't affect the integrity of the spring. If you wanted to try out the 1.5K and then trim them if you felt that the ride was too rough that would be acceptable as well.

Hey Jim, how did things go with the 1K SumoSprings on your Silverado? Did they give you the support you needed for the camper without making the ride too stiff when unloaded? Your experience could help others trying to balance comfort and support.
