Question:
I have a 2016 Silverado 2500HD with a 2 1/2inch receiver. With the standard 2- 2 1/2inch adapter installed the Thule T2 Pro XTR locking mechanism only secures it to the adapter, so if you open the autopininch you can easily remove the carrier and adapter from the receiver. The only way I can it secured is to the adapter backward in the receiver and lock it into place with my keyed pin lock and then install the carrier and lock it into place. Unfortunately the autopininch is no longer secured see picture Is there a better way to do this or is there a separate adapter I need? Thanks!

It looks like you are using a sleeve adapter like the Curt Hitch Receiver Reducer Sleeve - 2-1/2" to 2" # C45405 In order to lock the Thule T2 Pro XTR Bike Rack # TH83JV, I recommend using an extended hitch adapter like Brophy Hitch Reducer and Extender - 2-1/2" to 2" Trailer Hitch - 7" Long # HR26. This will serve the general purpose of converting your 2-1/2" receiver to 2", but will also extend the receiver enough to give the bike rack full access to the hitch pin hole for the auto pin to fit into. This is the best route for your application. One thing to keep in mind is this adapter will reduce your hitch capacity by 1/3. I attached a couple demonstration videos for you.
