Can ST185/80D13 Tire On Trailer Be Replaced With ST205/75D14 Tire?

Question:

Hello, My 17 foot, 3100 lbs hybrid trailer spec calls for the ST 185/80D13 Load Rated D tires. I see you have those AM3S33 but can you recommend a 14inch option of the same rating? I am pretty sure I have the physical space to increase the size but do not know how to go about spec-ing out such a tire. My main reason for asking is to give me more choices in a suitable load rated tire. Perhaps this would not give me more choices, please comment on my logic! Thanks

The Loadstar ST185/80D13 Bias Trailer Tire w/13" White Modular Wheel - 5 on 4-1/2 - Load Range D # AM3S333 you were looking at for your 17' Hybrid trailer has is 7.2" wide and 24.4" tall.

The closest 14" tire to that size is the Loadstar ST205/75D14 Bias Trailer Tire with 14" White Wheel - 5 on 4-1/2 - Load Range C # AM3S440 which is 7.8" wide and 26.3" tall so to make sure these will fit you will need to make sure from the inside of the tire to frame is at least 2" and from the top of the tire to the bottom of the fender is 4". This tire has a slightly higher load rating at 1760lbs at 50 PSI than the # AM3S333 which has a 1750lb load rating at 65 PSI

The # AM3S440 includes a wheel with the same 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern as the # AM3S333 to fit the hubs on your trailer.
