Question:

I have a 2002 EZ Loader 2350LB capacity boat trailer. GVWR 2,960LB Model: 2-EZLBW90B 172350NB I want to replace the entire hub assembly because they are very rusty boat in saltwater so I am looking for galvanized hubs that include the pre-greased bearings. The rims are 13X4.5 J The hubs that appear to be close are the part # 8-258-50UC1 however I just want to verify that they will fit. The spindles appear to be tapered. I have included a photo. Is this a fairly universal part that would have a high probability of fitting if ordered from you? Thanks

Thanks for the photo, and we can get you set up with a new hub, though unfortunately hubs require either knowing your bearings or precise measurements and aren't universal.

So, there's a few things you need to know to get the right replacement hub - the weight rating of your axle, and also what bearings your current hub has. To find the bearings, since you already have the hub off, now you just need to take it apart and look at the bearings themselves; wipe away the grease and you should be able to see the part number stamped directly on them.

If you are unable to find them, you need to use digital caliper and measure your spindle to the thousandths of an inch where the bearings and grease seal ride. You can use the photo I've attached to see exactly where you need to measure. For example, you mentioned the Dexter Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 2,200-lb Axles - 5 on 4-1/2 - Galvanized # 8-258-50UC1.

This hub uses inner bearing and outer bearing # L44649 (1.063" inner diameter) and a grease seal with a 1.500" inner diameter. Then for grease you would need Marine Bearing Grease #54FR and Bearing Packer # PTW1218
