How to Stop Parking lights Pulsing on a Trailer With LED Lights

Question:
I installed this wiring kit on my 2014 BMW X5. It has a 2 wire type setup with the brake and signal lights sharing the same wire. That means the white and red wire were both grounded. When I test the connector with a test light everything works correctly. When I connect it to the trailer everything works except the parking light pulses when the signal light is turned on giving the appearance the both sides are blinking. The tails lights on the trailer are LED and use less than one amp to operate. The wiring kits sends 5-7 amps. Is this the problem? Can you suggest a solution?

Expert Reply:
This can be a fairly common issue with trailers that have LED lights being towed with a vehicle that also uses LED lights. The higher amperage being pushed through the wiring harness can cause lights to pulse and is usually a pretty easy fix. Multiple lights are generally installed to a trailer with a single ground source. With your situation, you will need to have a dedicated ground for each light. This should cause the run off to dissipate into the frame and solve the pulsing issue.
