Recommended Replacement for Goshen DLB 800 Winch

Question:

I own a 1991 Skamper 190C. vin# 1SK11E194M1905617. Looking for help finding a part. I am looking for a new winch to crank it up. The old winch was a Goshen DBL 800 Winch. I am confused by the term right or left on the winch. Does this mean the side of the trailer it cranks from or which way you turn the the crank? I bought a replacement that went on the wrong side of the trailer and it cause the cable to rub on the frame. Thank you for your help

The Goshen DLB 800 Winch is a left hand winch which refers to the side of the winch the handle is on. For a replacement, I recommend the Dutton-Lainson Hand Winch part # DL74FR which is also a left hand winch with 800 lb capacity so it will be an excellent match. Most winches are right hand which explains the issue you had.
