Question:

What nuts fit these tbolts? They are not merely metric M6 nuts as the thread is much finer. Looked all over town for nuts that would thread onto the Thule t-bolts but cant seem to locate any. Is it a proprietary thread / nut?

I went out to the warehouse and pulled an Thule # XADAPT8 kit, an M6 barrel nut, and a regular M6 nut. I tested all the parts together and found what I think is the problem you are having. The bolts are M6 bolts but they are fine threaded. You are probably finding nuts that are coarse threaded.

The Thule barrel nut fit perfectly which is how I know they are M6 bolts. The other nut would nut screw onto the bolt because it was coarse threaded meaning the spaces between threads was larger than what the bolt required. You should be able to find a fine threaded m6 nut locally. We only have the barrel type nut that I know will fit, # 853-0446.
