Solution to Carry Spare Tire on F-550 Chassis Super C Class Motorhome
Updated 02/16/2021 | Published 02/10/2021 >
Question:
I am looking for a solution to mount my spare tires for my f550 based super c motorhome. I have it now on a curt hitch carrier but I can’t tow my trailer with it as the length of the extended hitch I need is not appropriate for the weight of trailer. I was thinking bumper mount or under the rv but can’t find if weight would be to much for a bumper mount as the tire and wheel is pretty darn heavy.

You may be able to use something like the Brophy Bumper Mount Spare Carrier # BR56VR, which is approved for use on the rear of a motor home and will accept wheels up to 17-1/2" in diameter. This carrier can fit on 4" x 4" or 4-1/2" x 4-1/2" square bumpers and can carry 1 wheel. You will want to confirm that you've got a welded on, solid steel bumper on the rear of the coach to make sure that it's going to be sufficient to carry a heavy spare.
If you can let me know the total weight of the wheels and the bolt pattern I may be able to come up with a more specific solution or confirm that this will work for you.
