I would be happy to recommend a towing setup for your 2017 Ford Transit T350.
Starting with the trailer hitch receiver I recommend the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98842 due to its matte black powder coat finish that resists chipping and scratches. The # e98842 has a maximum tongue weight rating of 900lbs, and a maximum trailer weight rating of 6000lbs. If you use a weight distribution system the tongue weight rating stays the same, but the maximum trailer weight rating gets bumped up to 8000lbs.
If you are planning on doing some heavy-duty towing you will need the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C14012 instead as it has a maximum tongue weight rating of 800lb and a maximum trailer weight rating of 8000lbs, but using weight distribution will bump those up to 1000lb maximum tongue weight and 10000lb maximum trailer weight. You will want to check the tongue weight and trailer weight ratings of your vehicle, and use the lower rating between the vehicle and the hitch.
All of the trailer hitch receivers offered are for the cargo and passenger van models, and will not fit the cutaway or cab and chassis models.
Moving on to adding a 7-way connector, you will first need to install a 4-way connector. I recommend the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C56327 which is a plug and play installation.
With the 4-way connector installed you will then need the Universal 7-way Installation kit # ETBC7 which will plug into your newly installed 4-way connector, and you will only need to make a few more connections as seen in the included video.
For a proportional trailer brake controller the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller # RED44FR great proportional trailer brake controller that is unique in the sense that it only the small knob is visible and it will not be in the way like a traditional trailer brake controller. There is not a plug and play harness for your T350, so you will need to use the included pigtail harness.
The # ETBC7 will provide the trailer brake wire, and the circuit breaker needed to connect the controller to your vehicles battery. The only other connections you will need to make is grounding the white wire, and using a circuit tester like the # PTW2993 to find the cold side of your brake pedal switch that only has power when the brakes are applied and using the included quick-splice connect the red wire to it.
I included installation videos for all of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
