Question:

Hi, I have a 21 Subaru Outback Onyx XT that has a hitch height of 17 and have a trailer that has a height of 15.5...from my calculations Id need a 1.5 hitch ball mount, but I cant seem to find one. Can you help? Thanks!

I have a solution for you, but there's not a ball mount with exactly a 1-1/2" drop. The goal is to tow your trailer as level as possible, so using a ball mount like the one that comes in the etrailer Ball Mount Kit # 989891 that comes with a 2" drop would work just fine. This kit comes with both 1-7/8" and 2" hitch balls to allow you to cover trailers with different coupler sizes, plus a hitch pin, clip and storage bag.

Absolutely! You can use the Brophy Ball Mount for 2" Hitches - 3/4" Rise, 2" Drop - 13-1/4" Long - 10K # BM20, which has the same 2" drop but will give you an extra 5" of clearance compared to the standard ball mount in the above mentioned kit. You'll need a hitch ball with a 1" diameter shank for this ball mount, so you can use the # 19260 for a 1-7/8" hitch ball or the # 40038 for a 2" hitch ball. You also may want to add a locking hitch pin for this, as well, which you can use the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock for 2" Hitches - Flush - 2-5/8" Span - Chrome # e98880.
