Demco Auto Slide Does Not Return To The Front Or Straight.

Question:
I have a 2016 Ford F 350 crew cab short box. I recently installed a Demco Auto slide. When i recently went to town to have work done on my 5th wheel. I noticed i heard a loud clunk when I first took off. Like the hitch had moved back. When i went to unhook from the 5th wheel. I noticed that the plate had not returned to the front and was at an angle. Even though the truck was straight on with the 5th wheel. I returned a week later to pickup the 5th wheel. The same thing happened . I had to back in at a little bit of an angle to hook up. I then drove about 30 miles to my home . The plate stayed in that angle position as shown in the pictures. I havent unhooked yet. I was hoping you could tell me whats going on?

I can understand why you kept the Demco Auto Slide # DM8550024 on your 2016 Ford F350 because it can be pretty difficult hooking up when it's at an angle. You should be able to get the head moved but it may be difficult. One possible way to fix this would be to lock the head release handle open so it's extended out, then use that to get more leverage on it. Another possible solution would be to remove the head and loosen the pivot bolt that runs vertically. This is a bit more intense of the two possible solutions but should solve your problem.
