Are You Supposed to Grease a 5th Wheel Trailer King Pin

Question:

Would you recommend using any grease on the king pin itself when using the R20 hitch?

Expert Reply:

There is no reason to grease the king pin on a 5th wheel trailer since the skid plates should be greased. I hesitate to say that you could grease it up if you wanted to only because if the grease attracts dirt and debris it could cause excessive wear of the king pin or hitch jaws.

But just a light coating of grease wouldn't hurt to reduce noise and wear a little.
