Question:
Hi. I see you sell hitches for 2017 BMW X1. Does what you sell work on the front wheel drive sdrive version?

Yes. The good news is that all of the hitches we have available for your 2017 BMW X1 will fit regardless of the drivetrain and trim options on your vehicle, so you've got several options to choose from.
The hitch with the best ground clearance and the one that will give you everything you could need to tow a trailer or carry a bike rack is the Stealth Hitches # SH55VR, which comes with a ball mount/hitch ball combo, trailer wiring and a removable receiver for accessories. The Stealth hitch is a premium option that will allow you to keep your factory look when you're not towing or carrying a bike rack or cargo carrier, and it comes with locks for the receiver and ball mount so everything stays secured to the vehicle.
If you're looking for something a little bit more simple and don't anticipate ground clearance being an issue in situations such as backing out of driveways, the Curt Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # C13303 is the best choice because of the durable powder coat on Curt hitches. This heavy duty powder coat will ultimately help prolong the life of the hitch and protect it from scratches and dings that otherwise might leave it susceptible to rust/corrosion. This Curt hitch does install mostly concealed, but the receiver will be visible and is not removable; it does have roughly 11" from the bottom of the receiver to the ground, so you would have a little bit of leeway when it comes to ground clearance, just not as much as with the Stealth Hitch. This hitch is also available for carrying accessories only with part # SH77VR, which cannot be used for towing but is great for cargo carriers or bike carriers.
If you go with the Curt hitch and will be towing, you'll also need a wiring harness, ball mount, hitch ball, hitch pin and clip. For the wiring I recommend using the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Connector # 118717 because of the reliability of the converter boxes on Tekonsha harnesses; this is an easy to install solution that tees into your vehicle lights.
To complete your towing package I recommend using something like the etrailer Ball Mount Kit for 2" Hitches # 989891; this comes with a ball mount with a 2" drop, both 1-7/8" and 2" hitch balls, hitch pin, clip and storage bag. It's a great all in one kit that gives you some flexibility in the trailers you can potentially tow and is a great choice if you don't own a trailer but might need to tow from time to time.
I've linked some review and installation videos of a few of these products for you to have a look at, as well.
