Updated 12/03/2020 | Published 11/30/2020 >
Question:
Your trailer selection for 2008 Toyota Avalon indicates a 2000 lbs towing capacity while the manufacturers specification indicate a 1000 lbs capacity. Additionally, a question and answer indicates the same. This could also be an issue for other Toyota Avalon in this year range.

The answer to that is our manufacturers design a hitch to fit the vehicle and then do the best they can to make it as strong as possible and rate it independently from the vehicle. This is why we end up with higher rated hitches like the Curt # C11427 than vehicles they fit like your 2008 Toyota Avalon.
You will need to to abide by the lowest rated component in the setup as the overall towing capacity which in your case seems to be the vehicle.
