How Can I Add a 4-Way to my Existing 7-Way on my 2005 Chevrolet Silverado

Question:
2005 Chevrolet Silverado with separate stop and turn bulbs...7 pin plug on truck... Trailer has 4 wire flat plug with stop and signal in the same bulb... I have the 7 pin to 4 pin adapter, but because the truck lights are separate, the adapter does not work ...please help...thank you

When manufacturer's make the 7-Way plugs on the back of vehicles like your 2005 Chevrolet Sliverado they combine the tail light and turn signals before the plug on the rear. What I recommend is to add the Replacement Custom Multi-Tow 7-Way and 4-Way Trailer Connectors part # 30955. This will give you a 4-way and 7-way to use any time you'd like. This will plug into the already existing 7-way plug on the rear of the truck and can be permanently attached eliminating the need for an adapter.
I'm unsure which adapter you are using but in some cases the adapter will switch wires inside causing issues like this.
