Question:
Hello, I understood how the installation of a hitch on the 2020 Highlander Platinum would interfere with the kick motioninch operation of the rear lift gate. I had a Toyota factory hitch installed which required a new rear bumber that has no place for the kick sensor. But unknown to me the original bumber also contained the backup sensor for objects that you might back into as well as the parking assist frature of the vehicle. With that said I see that your after market hitch sits below the original factory bumper allowing for all the sensors to remain in place. So, does your hitch interfere with the back up warning and/or parking assist features of the vehicle? Thank you, I look forward to your response.

I just spoke with my Curt representative who tells me that their aftermarket hitches will NOT interfere with the backup/parking assist sensors. They also tell me that the hands-free tailgate sensors will still work with one of their aftermarket hitches in place.
The Curt # C99FR is a fit for your 2020 Toyota Highlander, but it appears that it sits about the same height as the factory hitch. From your photo, it looks like factory hitch equipped modes use a bumper fascia that hangs down a little lower. I'll provide a side to side photo showing what the # C99FR looks like next to the factory hitch.
