How to Store Camco CAM40043 Inline Water Filter Between Uses

Question:
If you use a camco RV water filter for “one camping season” what is the best way to store the filter between trips?

Expert Reply:
The average lifespan while in use of a filter like the Camco # CAM40043 is about 3 months, or one camping season. Per Camco, there aren't any special storage recommendations. They recommend wrapping the ends of the filter in plastic and securing with a rubber band to prevent dirt or other contaminants from getting in the filter when it's not being used. I've linked you to a product description video for the water filter.

2nd question. After it’s used the first time, the charcoal only lasts about three months, no matter the number or days of uses? We fill an on board water tank every week or so; not plugged into city water. Thx again, Dave
