Does Castle Nut of Curt Weight Distribution System Affect Spring Bar Tension
Updated 06/17/2020 | Published 06/16/2020 >
Question:
According to curts website it says that the castle nuts on the head are adjustable for trailer size. I tow a 10,000 trailer with this hitch. Should I tighten the castle nuts to increase tension for sway control?

Expert Reply:
The castle nut of the Curt TruTrack part # C17501 does allow you to easily add or remove spring bar tension to compensate for a heavier or lighter tongue weight trailer. This does not necessarily increase sway control though. For more info on how to set up the system initially check out the install instructions link I attached to on this page.
