Installing the Curt Hitch On a 2020 Ford Explorer with Kick Sensors

Question:

We are installing a hitch that I purchased from you for a 2020 Ford Explorer and the sensor for your foot to activate the rear gate to lift needs to be cut to clear the hitch when installing the rear bumper cover back on. Is there an updated sensor for this?

I checked with Curt and the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # CU78FR is listed as a fit a 2020 Ford Explorer with kick sensors. That said, the fit with the kick sensors is tight so there are a few things you need to do during installation to ensure compatibility. The steps labeled 5, 6, and 8 in the instructions below all have notes about installing the hitch on models with kick sensors.

In some cases, it may be acceptable to bend the sensor bracket slightly but I don't have any relocation brackets or new sensor for this.
