Expert Reply:
For your 2008 Subaru Outback Sport there is a different installation process than what the non Sport models have. You will also be using a different harness the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector part # C56111 is the correct harness for the Sport models.
Instead of this one installing into a factory plug it will install behind both of your tail light housings and use the signals it receives from there to send the power out to the trailer through the powered converter box. I have included the installation video for you to check out. It will walk you through the entire process.
