This harness plugs into factory connectors behind the tail lights, so there’s no need to cut or tap wires. The plug-in design keeps the factory wiring intact and makes installation fast and straightforward. It’s built for vehicles without a tow package and provides an easy way to get trailer lighting up and running.
The built-in powered converter isolates the trailer wiring from the vehicle’s electrical system. That means the trailer lights won’t overload or interfere with sensitive electronics, giving you reliable turn, brake, and running light signals every time you tow.
The 4-pole flat connector gives you everything needed for basic trailer lighting—running, brake, and turn signals. It’s stored neatly inside the cargo area when not in use and can be pulled out when it’s time to tow. The weather stripping at the rear hatch protects the wire when closed, keeping the setup clean and out of sight.
If you ever move up to a trailer with electric brakes or need a charging line, this 4-way plugs right into an adapter like part #37185 to create a 7-way connection. That makes it easy to expand your towing setup without redoing the wiring you’ve already installed.

This harness still works perfectly. Like others who bought it, I keep the wiring inside my forester when not in use, rather than mounting the external portion of the connector to the receiver hitch.

It’s been all that I expected. I use my trailer pretty regularly. Early on I had replaced all the trailer lights with a new LED set. Never a problem.
