Which Size Trailer Tire Should Replace 225/75R15 for Better Clearance
Updated 04/29/2020 | Published 04/28/2020 >
Question:
I have a pontoon trailer with ST 225/75 - R15, I do not have enough Tire clearance and they rub on the fenders at the top of the tire. What profile Tire can I change to allow more Tire clearance? What is the tire height of ST 225/75 - R15 vs P205 / 60 R15

Expert Reply:
I suggest going to a lower profile sidewall like you have asked about. 225/75R15 is 28.3 inches tall and 205/60R15 is 24.7 inches tall. The problem with the 205/60R15 is that is a passenger tire not a trailer tire. Passenger tires have a different side wall and are built to flex and move. The flexing of a passenger tire on a trailer will cause the trailer to sway and will not be safe to use.
We do however have a tire size that works for your application part # AM10245. This tire is 205/75R15 which is about an inch smaller in diameter and gives you the clearance you need. This tire is 27.1 inches tall.
