The only trailer hitches that fit a 2010 Chevy HHR are Class I hitches with a 1-1/4 inch receiver, 2,000 lb towing capacity and 200 lb tongue weight capacity. The reason is because these vehicles simply don't have the capacity for that much extra weight, and aren't designed with that purpose in mind. Five hundred pounds is a very large amount of tongue weight, and the only vehicles that have hitches with that much capacity are large trucks or SUVs.
The only option to transport a mobility scooter with your 2010 Chevy HHR is to use a trailer, and for that you will need a hitch, wiring and ball mount. The correct parts that fit your 2010 Chevy HHR are:
- Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver # 24756
- T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118407
- Draw-Tite Drawbar for 1-1/4" Hitches # 3594
- 1-7/8" Hitch Ball # 19256 or 2" Hitch Ball # 19258 (depending on the size of your trailer's coupler)
I have added links to instructions and video installs for you to check out as well.
