Still Experiencing Sway with RoadActive Suspension and Blue Ox Weight Distribution System
Updated 04/07/2020 | Published 04/06/2020 >
Question:
2004 Ford 4x4 Excursion HD suspension Diesel and Outdoors RV 23DBS. I have the Blue Ox WD hitch. First trip out from dealer was great no sway. Later I installed Roadmaster Active Suspension for steering drift issue. Now when I tow I am getting very bad swaying from when semi truck passes and wind. The only change has been the Roadmaster. Is that causing more sway now? How do I adjust for better sway control??

It sounds like you added the RoadActive Suspension Custom Leaf Spring Enhancement Kit part # RAS3621-HD to the 2004 Ford Excursion along with the use of the Blue Ox Weight distribution system on the Outdoors RV. The spring bars of the weight distribution system tension could be set too high causing the suspension of the truck not to flex. If your leaf springs are not flexing then the RoadActive Suspension is more than likely not engaging. I recommend to back off the tension of the spring bars by adjusting the number of links to see if that helps with the sway. Since you added the RAS after the weight distribution system was in use it needs to be adjusted.
