Question:
I need a trunnion weight distribution adjustable hitch head that is rated for 1700 lbs TW. The actual tongue weight on the trailer is 1625 lbs. I need the head to accommodate preferably 2 balls for sway controls but I could deal with one. Thanks.

The only replacement head that will come close to your specifications will be the Reese # RP58167. This is rated for Reese weight distribution systems up to 1,700 pounds tongue weight and 17,000 pounds towing weight, but only includes one hole for the friction sway control ball. With that said, this is designed to be used Reese products and cannot be used with other brands. Unfortunately, this will go for every weight distribution system manufacturer.
If the trunnion bars you have are 1,200 to 1,700 pound rated Reese bars that measure 1-3/8" square, you can use the Replacement Trunnion and Pin # 58097 to get them attached to the head, but if they are not Reese bars, these cannot be used. If this is the case, your best bet will be to replace your system with something like the Reese Strait-Line Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control # RP66075. This is rated for 1,000 pounds to 1,700 pounds of tongue weight, but it will not use the friction style sway control. However, I prefer the sway control style with this system as it will be much more proactive and allows for backing up without disconnecting anything, unlike the friction style.
I do also have to mention that this does not include a shank or a ball. You can definitely use what you have already, but if you wanted to replace them, the 2-5/16" Hitch Ball - 1-1/4" Diameter x 2-5/8" Long Shank - Raw Finish - 30,000 lbs # C40085 will fit this perfectly. The shank will depend on what size hitch you have, but the Blue Ox Weight Distribution Shank # BXW4000 is for a 2" hitch and the # BXW4028 is for a 2-1/2" hitch. These have 1-1/4" hole spacing, when measured center to center, and will be rated up to 2,000 pounds of tongue weight so they will also be a good match.
