Is the 21K Recessed Demco Recon Able to Safely Tow a 20K Momentum 5th Wheel Toy Hauler

Question:

I am looking at the momentum toy hauler. the gvw is 20,000 lbs. will this hitch be able to handle this load with no problems? do you sell one that is rated at at 24k or higher? I have a 2015 ram 5500 with a cw 11 foot flatbed. thank you

Since the Momentum 5th wheel toy hauler has a GVWR (max weight) rating of 20K the Demco Recon Gooseneck-to-5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter for Recessed Ball # DM8550046 gives you 1,000 lbs of cushion so it will work great for this trailer!

The Recon is one of my favorite options because it is a simple solution that works really well and has a head unit that gives you one of the smoothest towing experiences on the market. Please note that even though this will work for your trailer, you need to make sure that the top of your hitch ball is no lower than 13/16" from the bed of your 2015 Ram 5500. Anything lower than that and the ball will be too low for the Recon to grab on.

I have a CM flatbed on a 2012 Ram 3500 with a recessed Gooseneck Ball that measures 1 1/16" from the top of the ball to the bed. Will the Demco Recon work on my Truck? Also, I pull a 2013 Excel fifth wheel and to get it to pull close to level I need a fifth wheel hitch about 6" to 8" from the bed to the top of the fifth wheel plate. Will the Demco Recon go that low? Or would the Hijacker SL series work better? Thanks,

The Recon # DM8550046 won't work for your application because the top of the gooseneck ball needs to be 13/16" or closer to the truck bed, and the lowest the Recon can go is 11-1/2". You might be able to install B&W Gooseneck Trailer Hitch for Flatbed Trucks # BWGNRK1500 to use the Companion # BWRVK3050, but even then this sits 10-1/2" tall so you'd need to adjust your pin box and possibly look elsewhere so that you can get your trailer level.
