Matching parts is straightforward thanks to the standard 5 on 4-1/2" bolt circle and 14" rim size. It pairs up with common trailer tires like ST215/75R14 and accepts standard metal valve stems such as part # AM20906 or center caps designed for a 3.19" pilot hole. That means you can set up your trailer with confidence knowing everything fits together cleanly.
1. Count the lug holes
Look at the wheel hub or the back of the wheel and count how many lug holes there are(also called bolt holes).
Common configurations include: 4-lug, 5-lug, 6-lug and 8 lug
2a. For even lug counts (4-lug, 6-lug, 8-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole directly across to the center of the hole opposite it.
Common configurations: 4 on 4", 6 on 5.5", 8 on 6.5"
2b. For odd lug counts (5-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole to the outer edge of the hole directly across (not center-to-center since there's no directly opposite hole).
Common configurations: 5 on 4.5" (most popular), 5 on 5", 5 on 4.75", 5 on 5.5"

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, I'm gonna take a look at this Dexstar 14 inch by 5-1/2 inch black spoke steel trailer wheel with the 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern. Now, this wheel's a sturdy steel construction. We mentioned it is a spoke design. You can see it has the eight spoke design to it. This does have excellent corrosion resistance.
They use a two-step finishing process on it, which includes first an e-coat primer and then a black powder coat finish over the wheel. It is a high-quality wheel, meets the DOT Department of Transportation specifications. Now, if you notice, it does not come with a center cap. If you do want a center cap, we do sell those separately on our website. You do wanna make sure to get one that'll have the same diameter as this pilot hole 'cause when you install the cap, it'll go through this hole.
The pilot hole diameter right here is 3.19 inches. This wheel is made by Dexstar, which means it's made in the USA. A few specs on this, we're gonna measure the diameter and the width of the wheel. And when you measure the diameter on a wheel, what you're measuring is inside to inside 'cause when the tire is put on the wheel, the bead will seat right here on the wheel. So basically the size you're measuring is inside the inside.
So if we take our tape measure, and if we go inside to inside, there's your 14 inch diameter. The width on the wheel, we measure the same way. It's bead seat to bead seat, so inside to inside, there's your 5-1/2 inches wide. Bolt pattern on this is 5 on 4-1/2 inches. And if you want to measure that on a wheel that's an odd number of lugs, like in this case five, what you'll wanna do is pick any one of the holes, let's say this hole right here, and then you're gonna measure across to either one of these holes right across from it.
But the trick is you measure from the center of the starting hole to the furthest edge of the hole that you measure to. So on this one, if we measure, it'd be 4-1/2 inches. So it's a five lug, 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern. It does use a wheel lug size of a half inch by 20, and the weight capacity on this wheel is 2,200 pounds. But that should do it for a look at the Dexstar 14 inch by 5-1/2 inch black spoke steel trailer wheel with the 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern.

Work much better than the aluminum rims that were prone to loosening. No issues with lug nut torque when I check them prior to travel. Also the chrome caps and rims together look great.
I already had one of these setups on my travel trailer. Very nice and durable. We have put about 10k miles over the last year on the trailer and the wheel still looks new, we don’t even use a tire cover. However, we’re planning a trip to desolate Big Bend during the heat of Texas and I wanted to be double prepared.

We are towing our camper to Alaska from the east coast of the lower 48 so knowing the roads won't be the best I wanted to have a second spare tire and rim and I wanted them to match what is on the camper. No one locally, including the dealer where we bought the camper just three years ago, could match the rim. Great wheels for the purpose. I replaced some fancy aluminum wheels with these trusty steel wheels, they are holding up well. Heavy salt water use and no corrosion or rust. I would recommend them.

Product is excellent...honestly, its never been used. I bought this as a spare to the spare as we drove truck and camper to Alaska from NH last summer and I wanted to be adequately prepared as the Alaska Canada highway is notorious for eating up tires and rims. We carried two spares for both the truck and camper and in almost 12,000 miles we never got a flat. If I didnt have extra spares I would have gotten 10! In any event thanks for the excellent service, etrailer was the only place where I could find that tire and rim combination and I wanted that as I wanted to have a perfect match to what came on our camper.
