Question:

How do I wire the tail/stop/turn and reverse lights on a headache rack on 2019 Ford super duty. When I wired it to the trailer plug I get the phantom trailer message.

The B&W Custom Headache Rack w/ LED Brake, Turn, Tail Lights # BWPUCP7500WA uses bonded 4 pole wire to make the connections, however most of the new Fords have a "smart" tow plug, which means that it is looking for voltage to see if the trailer is hooked up or not. That explains the messages on the dash.

The best way to wire up the headache rack is to wire it directly to your Super Duty's electrical system, and bypass the trailer wiring. The factory harness is on the passenger side of the frame rail. If you go to the back of the bumper and find the 7 way, it will be in the same location, just on the passenger side.

You'll definitely want to test the functions of the wires before you make any cuts or connections. The LCD Digital Circuit Tester # PTW2992, or a meter like # PTW1714 will work great. Just test each function one at a time, that way you can isolate each signal. Once you have the wire identified you'll want to make you connections, I suggest Deka Heat Shrink Butt Connector - 16-14 Gauge # DW05744-5 since it's on the outside and will exposed to more moisture and debris.

Headache rack wires :
brown = tail light signal
yellow = left turn, and brake
green = right turn and brake
white = ground

Keep in mind this situation occurs when you wire any accessory into the trailer wiring on "smart" plugs. Typically it will turn off the back up camera, and sensors because it thinks there is a trailer hooked up. I linked all the parts as well as a few videos for you to check out for reference.
